From October 26, 2022 to February 6, 2023, the National Museum of Asian Arts – Guimet honors Afghanistan in its richness and complexity, between archeology and contemporary creation.
Two exceptional exhibitions will be presented at the MNAAG:
Afghanistan, Ombres et légendes traces, on the occasion of the centenary of the French Archaeological Delegation in Afghanistan (DAFA), a century of discoveries and relations with Afghanistan. It offers the public a panorama of the numerous research carried out while underlining the importance of the archaeological heritage and museum collections, but also of the built heritage of this country on which a latent threat still hangs since the return to power of the Taliban on August 15, 2021.
Sur le fil. Création textiles des femmes afghanes offers, through the creations of the fashion house Zarif Design and its founder Zolaykha Sherzad, a look at contemporary creation and the transmission of textile know-how threatened with extinction.
Throughout the season, many events and activities will be offered to everyone at the museum to highlight Afghan history but also creativity: workshops for young audiences, families and adults, meetings, cinema or the performing arts.
