The eighth BNAC Nepal Study Day
19th April 2010
University of Durham
In coordination with the Department
of Anthropology, University of Durham (http://www.dur.ac.uk/anthropology/) the Britain-Nepal Academic Council announces
its eighth Nepal Study Day to be held on 19 April 2010, at the University
of Durham. Last year’s study day was held at Edinburgh, and
proved to be a popular, well-attended event. BNAC encourages presentations, sharing and discussion of research
and work ongoing in, and on, Nepal (see http://digitalhimalaya.com/bnac/study_days.html for previous days and examples of work presented).
Research from all disciplines will be considered, and this includes
work here in the UK and elsewhere in relation to the Nepalese Diaspora.
We particularly encourage presentations on as yet unpublished ongoing
research, and work from doctoral students.
If you are interested in presenting please send a brief abstract of 250 words to Dr Ben Campbell (Ben.Campbell@Durham.ac.uk) by 1 March 2010. In keeping with previous
study days, papers of accepted abstracts will not be circulated in advance,
but presented on the day. There will be no conference fees, but a small
contribution will be collected towards the payment of refreshments.
Small bursaries towards travel will be paid for those postgraduates
whose presentations are accepted.
Rooms will be available nearby at
Collingwood College. With breakfast £28.50 for shared bathroom, with
breakfast £39.50 en suite bathroom.
Call 0800 2899 70 or email conference.tourism@durham.ac.uk to make your bookings.
